Why Argentina

Argentina's energy and agricultural resources support a long-term investment case, now reinforced by a more predictable macro environment.

ABUNDANT ENERGY RESOURCES
WITH SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT POTENTIAL

50 GW of renewable potential vs. 6 GW currently installed

Argentina's per-capita energy consumption is below the global average, with significant growth potential as industry, mining and digital services expand and drive demand for firm capacity. The opportunity lies in a systemic approach that combines thermal for reliability, hydro for flexibility and storage to manage intermittency and support the grid at peak demand.

ONE OF THE MOST PRODUCTIVE AGRICULTURAL SYSTEMS IN THE WORLD

Argentine agribusiness is not only about grain: it integrates value chains from the field through industrialisation and export of oils, meals, biofuels and processed foods. Yield per hectare, vertical integration and export scale make agribusiness a structural asset class that is largely insulated from political cycles.

Third-largest net food exporter worldwide

Leading global exporter of soybean meal and oil

Leading exporter of premium peanuts in the world

Soils among the most fertile in the world

Well-established export infrastructure

Best-in-class agribusiness technology

IMPROVING MACRO CONDITIONS REINFORCE AND EXPAND THE STRUCTURAL OPPORTUNITY

Renewed fiscal and monetary stability restores the ability to plan, set prices and structure long-term investments at scale, reinforcing the opportunity.

This is already visible in the Large Investment Incentive Regime (RIGI): as of March 2026, more than USD 18 billion investment committed across mining, energy and industrial projects.

The infrastructure gap, combined with growth in energy-intensive sectors, further expands the appeal of Argentina's energy opportunity.

Our operating model

FROM CAPITAL TO PRODUCTIVE ASSETS: a proven track record of execution in complex environments, integrating local value chains and supporting the development of regional economies.

Mapa de operaciones de MSU en Argentina

Argentina's 3rd-largest power generator by installed capacity and 2nd-largest in renewables. El Chocón accounts for roughly 15% of Argentina's hydroelectric output. MSU Agro is a leader in extensive agricultural production in Argentina. We drive sustainable development with a positive impact across community, agriculture and industry.

We embrace innovation and change, to drive growth in regional economies across both agribusiness and energy. We are committed to operational efficiency and the continuous incorporation of technology and innovation.

Diversification is intentional and central to how we operate. In energy, our platform integrates thermal with hydro, solar generation and power storage. In agribusiness, geographic and crop diversification mitigates climate risk and lets us capture commercial windows as they open.

Projects delivered on time and according to budget across economic and regulatory cycles. Recent milestones: the El Chocón–Arroyito concession, solar development in northern provinces, pioneering BESS projects in Argentina, and the inauguration of a state-of-the-art premium peanut facility in Santa Fe.

ENERGY

MSU is one of the leading players in Argentina’s energy sector, with an integrated vision focused on delivering reliable, efficient, and competitive energy to support the country’s growth.

Our operations combine scale, diversification, and execution capabilities. In recent years, we have strategically expanded our presence in renewable energy through solar generation, energy storage, and one of Argentina’s most significant hydroelectric complexes: El Chocón–Arroyito.

Long-term USD-denominated contracts with leading international corporations.

At the same time, we maintain a strong thermal generation base that provides reliability to the system, including some of the country’s most efficient combined-cycle power plants, supported by stable and predictable revenues through long-term USD-denominated contracts.

AGRIBUSINESS

MSU is one of Argentina’s leading large-scale agricultural production companies, applying state-of-the-art technologies such as no-till farming and precision agriculture across both owned and leased farmland. The owners of the land where we operate are our strategic partners: we build long-term relationships with an average duration of more than 10 years.

Our highly diversified portfolio mitigates climate risk and lets us capture new commercial windows:

  • geographic diversification across Argentina's main productive regions: Northeast, Litoral, Humid Pampas and Southeast;
  • a multi-crop portfolio: soy, corn, wheat, sunflower and peanuts

The new peanut processing facility accelerates our growth. Vertical integration through a state-of-the-art plant is designed to add value at origin, applying the latest technology to drive efficiency throughout the industrialization process and deliver a premium product.

Argentina is the leading global exporter of premium peanuts; more than 90% of the new plant's output will be for export.

Group
history

A combination of committed founders and shareholders with a professional management team has allowed us to build, in a short period of time, a productive platform of national scale:

1860

THE URIBELARREA FAMILY INITIATES FARMING AND RANCHING OPERATIONS in rural Buenos Aires province, laying the foundations of a productive tradition that continues to this day.

1998

MANUEL SANTOS URIBELARREA AND HIS FATHER CO-FOUND MSU AGRO, the first company of MSU Group. They pioneer an extensive farming model based on the professional management of leased land, the incorporation of new technology and a vision of scale that marked the beginning of a new model for Argentine agriculture.

2007

MSU LAUNCHES AN INTERNATIONAL LAND INVESTMENT FUND targeting institutional and private investors, consolidating its leadership and reputation as an agricultural operator.

2022

MSU LAUNCHES AN EXPANSION PLAN on both owned and leased land, reaching 245,000 planted hectares in 2024, of which 30,000 hectares are owned.

2024

MSU BEGINS CONSTRUCTION OF A PEANUT PROCESSING FACILITY in Rufino, Santa Fe, deepening our integration across the agribusiness value chain and broadening Argentina's footprint in global food markets.

2012

MSU GROUP BEGINS ENERGY OPERATIONS THROUGH MSU ENERGY, initially focused on evaluating investment projects across Argentina.

2017-2018

THE GROUP'S THERMAL POWER PLATFORM STARTS OPERATIONS with its first simple-cycle plants and 450 MW of installed capacity.

MSU ENERGY ENTERS THE INTERNATIONAL CAPITAL MARKETS with a USD 600 million bond issuance.

2020-2022

CONVERSION OF THERMAL PLANTS TO COMBINED CYCLE, adding 300 MW of capacity while improving energy efficiency and reducing emissions.

OPERATION AND INTEGRATION OF SCC POWER'S ASSETS consolidates a diversified thermal platform.

2025

MSU ENERGY SUCCESSFULLY ISSUES ITS SECOND INTERNATIONAL BOND, for USD 400 million.

2022

MSU GROUP ENTERS THE RENEWABLES SEGMENT WITH MSU GREEN ENERGY, initially focused on solar.

2023

MSU GREEN ENERGY TAPS THE CAPITAL MARKETS with a corporate bond program of approximately USD 115 million, classified as green bonds, to finance solar park construction (structuring close to USD 250 million in total together with the associated PPAs).

2025

MSU GREEN ENERGY WINS THE CONCESSION FOR THE CHOCON–ARROYITO HYDROELECTRIC FACILITIES AND IS AMONG THE WINNERS OF ARGENTINA'S FIRST BESS AUCTION. In January 2026 the company begins operating 1.4 GW of hydroelectric capacity, positioning itself as one of the largest-scale renewables players in Argentina.
